The Difference Between Classic and Modern Fragrances.

Busting the Myth of Fragrance Creation!

Back in the days, Perfumers had to create original accords using classic products, however, today perfumers create classic accords, using original molecules. Over the decades, creativity has become more technical than artistic by converting perfumery into a technology-driven art form.

In the past, perfumers created fragrances based on their instincts and heart. The perfumers used to translate an idea or imagination running their mind into an artistic smell.

However, now the scenes have changed. With more and more data available about the latest fads and trends, fragrances houses have become more data-driven. In other words, perfumery has become more commercialized. We are starting to lose the touch of inspired fragrances. The rise of this data-driven market has giving brands and fragrance houses an insight into their consumer’s buying habits, patterns, interests, and behaviours. Therefore, rather than ‘creating’ we now ‘develop’ fragrances focusing on the market cycles.

Believe me, a scientific background is not necessary for a perfumer. Sometimes the knowledge of science can be an obstacle in the creation of successful perfumes. Like a painting drawn by heart, the creation of a fragrance by heart can give more pleasure than any technical fragrance. You don’t need to be a science major to create a fragrance, you just need the right inspiration, excitement, and creativity to make an extraordinary fragrance!
